The success continued at the following race in Garrison, Minnesota, where he won Semi-Pro Champ. In the final race of the season of Beausejour, Manitoba, Fontaine finished third in both Semi-Pro Champ and Semi-Pro Open. Women's Ice Oval Racing
Revival of Women's Ice
Oval Racing
The involvement of women racers in oval racing has been almost non-existent over the past few seasons. With many long time women racers leaving the sport and no new ones to replace them, there hasn't been a consistent group to race and therefore, no women's class. Change, however, has finally come. A women's class was reintroduced to the oval racing community this past 2008-2009 season as well as a new group of women racers. The Women's 380 class was introduced at the race in Forest Lake, Minnesota and had two competitors. The number of entries in the class at the following race in Garrison, Minnesota more than doubled, as eight women racers, ranging from age ten to late twenties, competed in the class. The class proved itself as a success and many women racers have already dedicated themselves to competing in the upcoming 2009-2010 season. The class follows the rules of the Junior I Stock 380 Fan class and any female from age 10 and on is welcome to enter the class. If you would like any more information about this class, please contact Lindsey Fontaine. Hoglund Racing wrapping up
